Learning this ability does not grant additional passive effects.
Threat describes the amount of hate an action generates on it's target. Abilities that inflict damage always generate threat proportional to the amount of damage dealt.
Shattering Shot is a great support ability against Bosses, as it can reduce armor significantly. There is few creatures in the game that would have any armor rating left after getting hit by the shattering shot of a Master Archer.
The knockdown effect on this ability also makes it a good choice for interrupting weaker spellcasters before they can lose that nasty Chain Lightning.
