AI

Dragon Age: Origin's Artificial Intelligence system for the player character and their companions is highly customizable.

There are 3 layers of control that the player may use to micromanage their character's behaviors:

UI Control Options

Dragon Age: Origins offers several UI control options that impact how characters behave in game:

  • The 'Hold Position Button' - Located under the character portraits on the lefthand side of the screen, this handy button allows the player to instantly freeze all their characters to their position, preventing any movement until manually directed. Note that characters will still fight and otherwise behave normally, they will just not move anymore without direct order.
  • The 'Toggle Weapon' button - Located to the leftof the ability bar, this button switches characters between different weapon sets. The character's basic AI will change depending on what kind of weapon (melee, ranged) is selected.
