Tactics Tutorial

Used properly, Tactics can greatly reduce the need to micromanage your characters.

This page runs through some common tactics examples to demonstrate how to use this system.

Note that tactics are an additional layer of control over basic Character Behavior Settings, that control how your party members react in general when perceiving an enemy.


A very simple Tactic

The following example shows how to setup a very simple but useful tactic on Leliana.

We will make her drink the most powerful healing potion in the parties inventory whenever her current Health drops under 50% of her maximum health.

On the left side, select the condition 'Self' → 'Health' → '<50%'.
This defines the triggering condition for your action.

On the left side, select the action 'Use health poultice, most powerful'.
This defines the action your character takes when the triggering condition is met.

Now, whenever the character gets wounded enough in combat to fall under 50% health, they will drink a the most powerful healing potion in the party inventory without your interaction.
